Nestling in a bay at the boundary between Romagna and the Marches, Cattolica has made no secret of its vocation as a sea/tourist resort ever since its origins.
In fact, behind its modern facade, the Queen of the Adriatic has a surprising past, which as dates far back as Roman times. According to tradition, it is said to have been founded in 200 BC by the Empire which created the first residential nucleus for transit purposes.
